EatonWeb Blog Directory is a powerful list. The fee, currently $34.99, pays for a review of your blog.
OnToplist.com is a free, manually-edited directory that reads the RSS feed of your blog.
One such site is Technorati.com Technorati’s blog directory . This site is massive. Its free to sign up and easy to submit your blog to its directory.
Once you set up our account you’ll go through the steps of submitting your blog for review. One step they give you is to verify that you are the owner of your blog by giving you a unique number identifier for you to include in a blog post. It will look something like this:

The purpose is for Technorati spiders to crawl your site as well as your rss feed to see that the indentifier is embedded. This helps speed along your confirmation process and moves you one step closer to being found by your target audience. Easy as pie.
